Coconut oil hair masks have risen in popularity given their ability to penetrate the hair shaft (thanks to lauric acid) to moisturize and repair from within. They’ll also leave your strands shiny while repairing damage. Plus, coconut oil is really good for your tresses due to antioxidants and its antibacterial/antifungal nature.

For Hair Growth- If you’re sticking with straight coconut oil, you should slather it on dry hair at night, warming it up first for maximum benefits. Apply more to your ends while going lighter on your roots. If you have an oily scalp, avoid adding the oil to the area — you don’t want to cause breakouts. Comb it through your strands to make sure it gets distributed evenly.
